The Albany FFA team of Coy Lefevre, Ty Everitt, Cole Read, and Laithe Leech placed ninth out of 25 teams on Monday, March 7 at a wildlife judging contest at Anson.

Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard said the contest included segments on biological facts, game laws, safety laws, techniques, plant identification and which animals feed on specific plants, and habitat evaluation.

“The contest included judging for deer, turkey, and quail,” Beard said. “The students on the team were given a ranch scenario on what the habitat was like, and they had to determine if it was adequate or deficient for each species.”

Upcoming contests will be Tuesday, March 22 at Cisco, and Thursday, March 24 at Tarleton State University in Stepenville.

Beard said he expects eight students to participate in the upcoming events.
