Four members of the Albany FFA chapter and sponsor Chris Beard attended the Texas FFA State Convention in Ft. Worth last week, picking up a pair of awards won by the local chapter.

Representing Albany at the convention were Leddie Leech, Gracie Price, Robyn Trail, and Kenzie Neve. The students attended several leadership sessions while at the event hosted at the Ft. Worth convention center on July 11-15.

Three members of the group also served as voting delegates on several policy items, along with state officers and talent show winners.

“All four girls got to go down on the floor to serve as voting delegates representing Albany in Area 4,” Beard said. “They did a great job, and it was a good learning experience.”

He explained that the girls switched out serving as voting delegrates during various business sessions so that they each received a turn.

Chapter Awards

The Albany group was on hand to accept the National Chapter Award for the Albany Chapter,

The award is given to chapters who actively implement the FFA mission and strategies while improving chapter operations.

The local chapter also was the recipient of the Golden Horizon Award in Division 1 for schools with one FFA sponsor.
