Feed Store gearing up for school year

The Feed Store is gearing up for the new school year with a full slate of activities planned.

Director Tisha Wilkins met Tuesday, Aug. 15 with four senior representatives to The Feed Store Student Council to discuss plans for the upcoming year.

The Feed Store will hold the first of its weekly junior/senior lunches Tuesday, Aug. 22. The lunch gatherings will continue each Tuesday school is in session through May.

The Feed Store will provide the meals for August and September with Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church taking over in October. November meals will be provided by Friendship Baptist Church and Bethel Assembly, while the Church of Christ will cover December.

After the holiday break, First Baptist Church will handle meals for January, followed by MMPC in February, First Christian Church in March, Church of Christ in April, and The Feed Store in May.

Fifth Quarter

Wilkins also announced the schedule for Fifth Quarter gatherings following home football games.

The events are sponsored by the Albany Ministerial Alliance and are open to all junior high and high school students. The gatherings will run from the end of each game until 11:00 p.m.

On Sept. 1, the Church of Christ, Maranatha Fellowship, and Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church will serve students following Albany’s home opener against Dublin.

On Sept. 8, Albany Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church will be in charge.

The third Fifth Quarter will be Oct. 6 with First Christian Church and The Feed Store handling the program.

Friendship Baptist Church, Maranatha Fellowship, and MMPC will take over for the homecoming gathering on Oct. 20.

The final gathering of the season will be Oct. 27 with First Baptist Church in charge.

NSES Greeters

The Feed Store and local churches are also teaming up to provide greeters at Nancy Smith Elementary School.

Greeters will open doors for students 7:30-8:00 a.m. each Wednesday of the school year beginning in September.

First Christian members will handle the task in September, followed by MMPC in October, Friendship Baptist in November, and Albany Methodist in December. Assignments for the spring semester will be Bethel Assembly in January, First Baptist in February, MMPC in March, First Baptist in April, and The Feed Store in May.
