Several FCCLA members will compete at the Regional Leadership Conference in Waco Friday and Saturday, including two Parlimentary Procedure teams and several other individuals and pairs.

The Level 1 Parliamentary Procedure team, which consists of all eighth graders, is scheduled to compete at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The Level II Parlimentary Procedure team, which can include both ninth and 10th graders, will enter its contest at 3:10 p.m. on Friday.

Last year the Level I group, which includes several of the students who moved up to Level II this year, won the national title in San Diego at the national leadership conference.

Both groups are required to conduct 20-minute meetings using a preset agenda of business, followed by written tests over parlimentary procedure.

Competing on the Level I team this year are Hattie Jo Braly, Tatum Grady, Zayne Lefevre, Wesley Gleitz, Connor Smith, Colter Edgar, Jack Nail, and Braeten Street.

The Level II team, which are all ninth graders this year, includes Caroline Chapman, Mimi Ivy, Madison Parrott, Woods Peterson, Tristan Howe, Jaxson Street, and Cade Fairchild.

Ann Davis and Lainey Cash will compete in Level 3 with a Chapter Service project at 1:00 p.m. Friday.

Jaci Chapman and Callan Edgar are also entered in the National Program in Action with a Level 3 project.

Marie Hufschmidt is entered in a Level 3 Power of I competition, and Cort Peterson has entered a Repurpose and Redesign project in Level 3.

Students in seventh and eighth grade compete in the Level I division, while Level 2 is for high school freshmen and sophomores. Junior and senior students compete in Level 3.

The top five places in each contest qualify to advance to the state conference to be held in Dallas in April. There are a total of five regions across the state.

The top two entries in each contest at the state conference will advance to the national conference on June 29 through July 3 at San Diego, CA.

The group will attend the convention session on Saturday prior to the awards ceremony.

FCCLA is sponsored by Jennifer Marshall.
