FCA to sponsor girls camp Jan.29-30

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will conduct its Weekend of Champions girls camp Jan. 29-30 at Solid Rock Encampment near Eastland. The overnight camp is for girls in grades 8-12.

“It’s going to be a weekend of equipping young ladies with truth, encouragement, and fellowship,” said Betsy Spraberry, who helps with local FCA events. “We’ll have a great speaker and testimonies along with worship and fun activities.”

Spraberry said FCA membership is not a requirement to attend the program.

“Participants don’t even have to be athletes,” she said.

Campers will arrive at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 and depart at 11:00 a.m. the next day. While there is a fee for each camper, Spraberry said local organizer Paul Johnston raises funds to defray as much of it as possible.

“There’s a spot on the registration form where girls can select to pay the whole fee, a portion of it, or indicate if they need a scholarship,” she said. 

Spraberry said donations are still being accepted to cover scholarships.
