A free Kick Off Rally will be held at Robert Nail Stadium next week and all of the high school and junior high students from Albany and other towns in the eastern part of the Big Country and their parents are encouraged to attend the event.

“I’m hoping for a great event, and hoping that a lot of parents and students from Albany will show up,” said Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes representative and event organizer Paul Johnston. “We will have music for about 45 minutes, followed by a message delivered by pastor John Ward from Stamford. It will be a similar format to Fields of Faith.”

The rally will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, with a concert presented by the Christian band Five2 Offering from Albany.

All of the churches, parents, and kids from towns served by the FCA Big Country East are invited to the free event, though kids younger than junior high should be supervised by a parent to make sure that they do not disrupt the worship atmosphere.

Water bottles collected and labeled during the recent community VBS will be handed out during the event.

Special Speaker

The speaker, John Ward, is the interim pastor at First Baptist Church of Stamford, and also the defensive coordinator for the Stamford Bulldogs.

He recently faced a life-threatening illness, and his family credits prayers and the power of God with his ability to not only still be alive, but also to be off of a ventilator, and able to walk.

He is expected to share his testimony of the power of prayer.
