Tickets are selling fast for the 85th anniversary of the Fort Griffin Fandangle, the local outdoor production that tells the story of the settling of the Clear Fork of the Brazos area over 150 years ago.

Show dates this season are June 16-17 and June 23-24. Tickets can be purchased online or by contacting the Fandangle office located in the Depot. The website is www.fortgriffinfandangle.org, or patrons can call 325-762-3838.

“Tickets continue to sell quickly,” office manager Jamie Parsons said. “We have sold 70 percent on both Saturdays, and over 50 percent of the two Friday shows. Local people do not need to wait too long if they know they want to see the show.”

Tickets are $20 each, with both military and group discounts of 20 or more available.

Box seats are still available for Friday, June 23 only. Boxed seating is available only to members at a cost of $25 per ticket sold in groups of four, six or eight seats. There are also a few tables for eight available on Friday, June 23 as well. Tickets for the tables are open to the general public.

The Fandangle ticket office is now open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The Fandangle is located in the Depot along with the Chamber of Commerce, and extra staff has been added starting this week to process ticket orders, according to Parsons.

She added that special 85th anniversary souvenirs are available at the office, including t-shirts, caps, insulated tumblers and special candles for the Fandangle designed by Rustic Charm.

Parsons said that the office staff will man the concession stand at the Prairie Theater, with hot dogs, sausage on a stick, chips, candy and drinks, including cold water, available for audience members.

Rehearsals on Schedule

Rehearsals are set for Sunday through Thursday evenings during the two weeks remaining prior to the opening show.

“We really need everyone to come to rehearsals,” director Lorna Ayers said. “We have dodged the rain so far, so we have most of the individual scenes set. Now we just need to put it all together.”

Ayers reminded parents that all children through the sixth grade must be accompanied by a parent during rehearsals.

The full rehearsal schedule is online under the “Cast” tab. The password is 2023.

After this Thursday’s general practice for large numbers, the entire cast will need to start attending rehearsals. There is no children’s practice on Sunday night, because they will join the rest of the cast for a 7:30 p.m. practice of the whole first half on Monday, June 5, including horses, wagons, all lighting, and sets.

The second half rehearsal is at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, rotating back to the first half on Wednesday and the second half on Thursday.

On the week of the opening, practices will be at 7:30 p.m. June 12-14, with dress rehearsal starting at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.

No rehearsals have been set for Fridays or Saturdays at this point.

Cast members are asked to join the Remind app by texting @fandan to 81010 to receive notifications pertaining to rehearsals.

“We really need everyone to have the Remind app to keep up-to-date with any changes,” she said.
