Fandangle Sampler cancelled

Albany News

By Lynsi Musselman

Summer in Albany is  the sound of the calliope,  locals dressed in prairie costumes, and the excitement of seeing the first flag parade of the Fandangle season.

The cancelling of the Fandangle Sampler, due to government restrictions of large gatherings, has raised concerns for the summer 2020 production.

The sampler was planned for Saturday, April 25. Director Lorna Ayers said the board will reassess at the end of April about the summer production, and they will take other needed steps in set time increments as they come up.

Ayers remains optimistic about the 82nd Fandangle production.

The summer show times  are scheduled for Friday, June 19 to Saturday,  June 27, with shows on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Fandangle office remains remotely open. Workers are able to receive and encourage ticket sales and memberships. They are also available to field questions the public may have regarding the details of sales and the show.

“We are praying during the uncertainty of this time but remain hopeful for the summer 2020 show,”  Fandangle office manager Jamie Parsons said.

Contact for the Fandangle office is 325-762-3838, or by e-mail info@fandangle.org. There is also a Facebook page listed under Fort Griffin Fandangle, and an In-sta-gram page listed under ftgriffinfandangle.

The last time the Fort Griffin Fandangle did not  have a summer production was 1963 with a six-year absence that started in the summer of 1958. Before that, the Fandangle was on hold during World War II.
