April 20th Sampler

Rehearsals for the 2024 edition of the FortGriffin Fandangle moved outside this week at the Prairie Theater and will continue a twice-a-week schedule until the Membership Sampler set for Saturday, April 20.

Practices are being held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. for the cast and crew for the sampler, which is a preview of the summer performances in June.

“Rehearsals are going great,” artistic director Lorna Ayers said. “We moved to the Prairie Theater this week, which makes it a lot easier to start blocking or staging scenes.”

Ayers said that last week’sThursdayrehearsal was not as well attended as the previous Tuesday night.

“I think people forgot that we are starting out practicing twice a week since we waited until after spring break to begin rehearsals,” she said. “Those who haven’t signed up for the new Remind app account really need it to keep up with the schedule.”

She explained that everyone must sign up again to get the text reminders about rehearsals or any changes to the schedule. There are about 100 fewer phone numbers registered this year compared to last year.

Anyone wanting to join in order to receive information and reminders about rehearsals can text 81010 with the message @fandang included. If successfully sent, the new member will receive a confirmation text.

Ayers noted that rehearsals are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. this year in an effort to get families with smaller children home earlier.

“We are also going to make some changes to the rehearsal schedule for the summershowsthatshould be beneficial to both the show and the cast, better utilizing the time spent at rehearsals,” she said. “We will go into more detail about that after the Sampler.”

Ayers also asked that anyone planning to be a young rider in the show contactLeeBurtonorMatt Bellah.
