Fandangle preparations shift into high gear
Tickets are selling steadily for the 88th annual Fort Griffin Fandangle as rehearsals continue ahead of opening night later this month.
This year’s performances are scheduled for June 19-20 and June 26-27 at the Prairie Theater. With opening night less than three weeks away, cast members and volunteers have already been rehearsing for more than a month, with practices now taking place almost every night of the week.
Local residents are encouraged to purchase tickets early, especially for preferred seating sections, as strong crowds are expected during both weekends of the production.
Tickets may be purchased through the Fandangle office, located at the Albany Visitor Center and Depot, by calling 762-3838 or online at fortgriffinfandangle.com.
In addition to preparations for the performances, organizers are seeking entries for the annual Fandangle Parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 20.
Parade director John Ayers said attracting parade entries has become increasingly challenging in recent years, and Fandangle officials are encouraging local businesses, organizations, churches, families and individuals to consider participating. Residents who know of groups or individuals who may be interested are also asked to help spread the word.
Additional local entries are needed to help continue one of Fandangle week’s most popular traditions. Entries may include decorated floats, vehicles, horseback riders, youth groups, businesses, civic organizations and other community participants.
Anyone interested in entering the parade may contact the Fandangle office at (325) 762-3838, email info@fandangle.org, register online at fortgriffinfandangle.com/parade, or contact one of the parade directors: John Ayers at (325) 669-1156, Claire Ware at (325) 262-2389, or Cori Bezner at (325) 660-1901 for additional information.
