Rehearsals for next month’s Fandangle Sampler at Reynolds Bend have begun with director Lorna Ayers stressing the importance of attendance.

“We don’t have a lot of rehearsal time, so make sure to come to all of the rehearsals,” Ayers said.

The first rehearsal was held Tuesday, March 8. The next rehearsal will be 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at the Aztec Theater.

“After spring break, we’re going to go to two days a week,” Ayers said. “Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we’ll meet outside to the Bank Park area.”

The Sampler is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at Reynolds Bend on the Lambshead Ranch. It will be the first performance at the site since the death of longtime Fandangle benefactor Watt Matthews in 1997.

Ayers announced one addition to the Reynolds Bend performance.

“We are going to have young riders in the Sampler, which is something we don’t normally do,” she said. “Any kids who are interested in riding need to contact us and let us know.”

The cast that is in this Sampler will perform at Frontier Texas! on Saturday, May 28.

“Anyone who wants to be in that needs to be in the Sampler,” Ayers said.

Membership Drive

Meanwhile, the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association is proceeding with its annual membership drive.

“We’re pretty close to where we were last year, and we’re hoping we’ll get more because there’s still quite a bit of time,” Fandangle office manager Jamie Parsons said. “We had a board meeting Tuesday night about the Sampler.”

Memberships are available at seven levels ranging from Pioneer at $25 to platinum at $5,000. The Pioneer membership is open only to those age 65 and up.

Memberships may be purchased online at www.fortgriffinfandangle.org or by calling the Fandangle office at 325-762-3838.

“Invitations for the Sampler are going out,” Parsons said. “To get an invitation, people will need to be a member.”

The Sampler evening will start at 6:00 p.m. and includes a catered meal and a dance after the performance.
