Fandangle membership drive underway

The Fort Griffin Fandangle Association has begun preparations for another season with the start of its membership drive, with letters mailed last week.
Memberships are available at seven levels ranging from Pioneer at $25 to platinum at $5,000. The Pioneer membership is open only to those age 65 and up.
Memberships may be purchased online at www.fortgriffinfandangle.org or by calling the Fandangle office at 325-762-3838.
“The biggest thing we’re doing right now is getting invitations ready to go out for the Sampler,” Fandangle office manager Jamie Parsons said. “This year’s event is going to be Saturday, April 16 at Reynolds Bend.”
The Sampler evening will start at 6:00 p.m. and include a catered meal.
“We’ll have the Sampler, a dinner, and then a dance,” Parsons said.
After the COVID-19 pandemic forced cancellation of the show in 2020, Parsons said it started back strong in 2021.
“We had a good year last year,” she said. “We are picking right up and moving right along.”
Fandangle director Lorna Ayers said the first Sampler rehearsal will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at the Aztec Theater.
“We need everybody to show up starting with the first one because we don’t have that many rehearsals before the Sampler,” Ayers said.
The directors said those wishing to participate in Fandangle should attend the March 8 rehearsal.
“We’re looking for able-bodied people with a passion for Fandangle,” she said. “There’s no requirement except to show up.”
Ayers said the offer extends to technical crew and stagehands as well as cast members.
“If people want to be in the show itself, awesome,” she said. “If they want to help backstage or be on the light crew or whatever else, show up on March 8 and make their requests known. We’re happy to have anybody interested in any capacity.”
