Two directors were re-elected to another term, three new board members put in place, and plans made for the 2019 show during the annual membership meeting of the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association held Monday night, Oct. 15.

A new part-time marketing director was also named during the meeting.

Meeting Details

Longtime director Winifred Waller, now retired, made the traditional motion by proxy to perform a show in 2019, which will be the 81st anniversary for the outdoor musical.

Returning board members whose terms are now extended to 2021 are John Ayers and Shelly Bartee. They will each serve another three-year term.

Paul Ivy, the other director whose term was expiring, opted not to continuing serving on the board.

Newly elected board members include Lesley Jones, Dustin Parsons, and Lauren Willen.

Other directors are Steve Waller, Treca Edington, Lanham Martin, Cody Leech, Branch Bartee, Cori Bezner, and Bucky Nail.

Chris Beard was named as an advisor.

Officers will be elected at a later date.

Marketing Position

Rebecca Bridges, who was on the staff of the Old Jail Art Center several years ago, will serve as the new marketing director.

The job was advertised as “seasonal,” with duties expected to be concentrated during the first six months of the year, but details were not discussed.

Bridges left Albany to work at the Grace Museum in Abilene, where she is currently on staff in the education department.

Albany Chamber of Commerce manager Mary Beth Jones has been taking care of the Fandangle’s office duties since Meredith Robison resigned.
