The Old Jail Art Center continues its tradition of celebrating Christmas around the world with a family festival on Saturday, Dec. 17.

“Swedish Jul” will highlight Christmas celebrations in Sweden. Last year, the OJAC featured Mexican holiday celebrations, and other nations have been spotlighted in past years.

The event, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, is the last of several special family festivals held during the year.

“Bring the whole family and celebrate Christmas in Sweden!” said the Old Jail’s Education Programs Coordinator. “You can investigate collection artifacts and enjoy traditional crafts, games, food, and music from Sweden.”

Participants will also enjoy a Julbock Scavenger hunt on museum grounds, a Tomte Piñata, Toddler Zone, and Face Painting.

The festival is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.

For more information about the museum’s outreach and education activities, call 325-762-2269 or 325-762-2936.

Regular hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
