Fall Fest date moved to avoid conflicts

There will be a few changes in the 2022 Fall Fest sponsored by the Albany PTO, including the date, which has been moved ahead by a week to Saturday, Oct. 22.
A meeting was held Monday, Sept. 12 to iron out several other changes to be implemented this year.
The event will again be held in the parking lot at the elementary campus. It will start at 5:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.
“First, the date was changed due to several conflicts on the last Saturday in October,” PTO president Malarie Sutton said. “And we are making some other changes to Fall Fest in response to comments we received to try to make it more enjoyable for everyone.”
The prize system was changed last year, with tickets sold to pay for games and activities, but a different colored ticket given to the winners at the booths with which to “buy” prizes. The prizes will be on display on the stage in the cafeteria, and when those with winning tickets to spend are ready, they can purchase prizes of their choice.
“We changed to better quality prizes last year in various price ranges, and the kids use the tickets they win to buy what they want,” she said. “We will have more of the bigger prizes since we ran out of those first last year.”
Fall Fest chairman Ragan Riley reported after the meeting that changes have been made this year to separate the adult and kid’s bingo, as well as the adult and kid’s cake walks.
“We had people asking to separate the kids from the adults in the bingo and the cake walk, so we are going to try it this year,” Riley said.
Kid’s bingo will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the elementary band hall. Prizes will be appropriate for children.
Meanwhile, outisde of the band hall on the front covered area, adults will be able to participate in the cake walk from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
Adult bingo will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and children will not be allowed to play.
The kid’s cake walk, which will feature smaller baked prizes, will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in front of the band hall.
There will be a silent Pumpkin Auction in the cafteria starting at 5:00 p.m. when the cafeteria opens to serve food. The food line will end at 7:30 p.m.
New this year will be a snack and drink booth out in the parking lot area operated by the senior class for Project Graduation. The seniors will also provide face painting. That booth will take cash only instead of tickets.
The costume contest will remain outdoors again this year, starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be eight categories including newborns, babies (1 and 2 year olds), toddlers (3 and 4 year olds, Pre-K and kindergarten, first and second grade, third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade, and group entries.
Proceeds from the Fall Fest benefit all students at both campuses through PTO projects.
Parents of Albany students are asked to volunteer to help by contacting their child’s teacher or a PTO officer.
