Fall Fest costume winners named

A large crowd was on hand Saturday at Nancy Smith Elementary for the annual Fall Fest, with organizers calling the event a big success.

Several changes were made this year in an attempt to draw more interest, including larger prizes that were “purchased” with points earned at the various booths.

Exact figures of the success of the project, which is sponsored by the Albany PTO, were not available at deadline time.

“We think it was a good year,” treasurer Cori Bezner said. “We definitely made money, but we are still getting receipts together.”

She added that there were numerous positive comments about the changes made this year.

The costume contest was moved outdoors to the parking lot, with a new start time of 5:30 p.m.

Results of the contest are as follows:

Age 1 and Under – 1. Ryle Miller, bowl of spag­hetti. 2. Carter Gallagher, aerobics dancer. 3. Jane Riley, Cookie Monster.

Ages 2 to 3 – 1. Sofie Tabor, Shirley Temple. 2. Sebastian Rosales, the wolf. 3. Adrianna Barnett, One Plus.

Pre-K – 1. Greyson Hargett, astronaut. 2. Sage Nitchke, Woody. 3. Dixie Gardenhire, Elsa from Frozen.

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade – 1. Lennon Lucas, Super Mario. 2. Finn Viertel, lumberjack. 3. Daxton Lehew, Top Gun.

3rd through 6th Grade – 1. Maya Rosales, scarecrow. 2. Corrie Ceder, Starbucks server. 3. Willa Early, hippie.

Group Entries – 1. Viertels, Lumberjacks and Christmas tree. 2. Mrs. Gardenhire and 3rd graders, Cruella Deville and  101 Dalmations. 3. Tatum Grady, Hattie Braly, Ashlyn Miller, Incredibles.
