Fall decor going up in downtown area

Downtown Albany will be looking like fall is in the air on Saturday even if the thermometer doesn’t agree, thanks to the efforts of the Albany Chamber of Commerce and local volunteers.

Chamber manager Brandi Lehew reported that she and several volunteers, including two school organizations, have been working on fall decorations this week.

“Both the FFA and -FCCLA groups have been busy helping us,” she said. “The ag kids chopped and collected cane, and the -FCCLA has been putting up pumpkin plaques on the posts along Main Street. Both groups have also helped tie the cane in bundles to make it easier to install them later this week.”

The Chamber is still seeking volunteers to assist with putting up fall decorations on Saturday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.

“We have been trying to do some decorating each day so there will not be as much to do on Saturday,” she said. “If we happen to completely finish before Saturday, I will post an announcement on the Chamber’s Facebook account that we will not need to meet then.”

Lehew said that several Chamber board members have been assisting her.

“I have also had calls from several older students who need volunteer hours who are offering to help,” she said.

Anyone interested in helping spruce up the town for fall can contact Lehew at 325-762-2525.

The fall decorations will be traded out for Christmas decor immediately following  Thanksgiving in time for the annual Christmas parade on Nov. 25.
