Albany residents can get a good lunch, watch golf, and support worthy causes Friday at the 14th annual John Rose & Jim Law Memorial Albany Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament and Fajita Fiesta.

While the tournament is expected to have a full field, the fajita lunch is open to the public at $15 per plate.

The event was rescheduled from its original date of Oct. 1.

The tournament raises funds for the Albany K Charity Scholarship Fund as well as a number of other local projects.

“Our message is to help the community, help some students financially whenever they’re going to college,” Kiwanian Zach Maberry said. “We take that money and give it back to the kids. That’s really our goal.”

Maberry said the Kiwanians support several local programs, such as Ben Richey Boys Ranch.

“We help support them as much as we can,” he said. “We think that’s a great program they have out there. Anything we can do to help kids achieve their goals, that’s kind of where our focus is.”

The Fajita Fiesta is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. with the four-person scramble having a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Donations should be made payable to Albany K Charity and sent ATTN: Paul Hamilton, PO Box 2803, Albany TX 76430.
