Event benefits missions

Friendship Baptist Church’s seventh annual Harvest Acres bazaar enjoyed plenty of business Saturday, Nov. 19, with several items selling out.

Organizer Danita Johnston said the event, which raises funds for local mission projects, had a good turnout.

“People were very supportive,” Johnston said. “We all enjoyed visiting with each other. It was a pretty good day.”

Johnston said food items were again a big seller.

“We sold out of all of our casseroles and most of our baked goods sold out,” she said. “We sold out of chili and had just a little bit of stew left. We had a really good response to our silent auction items.”

With no COVID-19 restrictions to interfere, Johnston said the bazaar enjoyed a steady flow of traffic similar to last year’s event.

“We didn’t really promote an eat-in option,” she said. “People could have stayed, but it was designed for takeout stew and chili. Most people came in, did their shopping, and took their goodies home.”
