End of the Season
By Sidney Bartee
The final day for the swimming season at the Albany city pool is Sunday, Aug. 1.
Pool manager Jennifer Bowman said the pool’s closing coordinates with Albany’s two-a-day schedule.
All lifeguards hired at the pool are high school students, and many participate in sports.
“With the pool closing on Aug. 1, we will stop taking pool party reservations after this date,” Bowman said.
Last year, the pool was only allowed to be at half capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions, but it was back to full capacity this year.
“We ran at full capacity this year, and we’ve been busy the whole summer,” Bowman said.
She also stated that pool rentals were full for the whole season.
“Our pool rentals were completely booked within the first two weeks of the summer,” said Bowman. “We still have people wanting to book parties after our close date, but unfortunately, we do not have the staff to do that.”
The pool hours for the remainder of this week through Sunday afternoon will be Thursday through Saturday, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Entry to the pool is $2.50 per person, and children three and under are free.
The pool is located in Albany’s Webb Park at 900 N. Railroad Street.
