March 11 hearing set to finalize road restrictions

County Judge John Viertel reported at the regular meeting of Shackelford County Commissioners on Monday that the Courthouse elevator, which has been out of service for months, had finally been repaired, although a “foul odor” had been detected. burned” in the lower hallway and in the elevator that morning.

The judge had already contacted Home Elevators to check on the source of the smell.

Viertel also said that Cary Services had arrived that morning with the new boiler unit and were in the process of installing it.

Commissioners decided last month that the $40,000 boiler needed to be replaced, along with the cooling unit, which has a price tag of $106,700. They are both almost 25 years old.

Cary Services has now completed the boiler installation. The cooler has been ordered and will probably take a couple more months to arrive.

Viertel will check on Cary’s proposal to replace the third-party control system.
