Elementary, jr. high UIL events set

Twenty-one sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from the Albany Independent School District competed at a University Interscholastic League contest in Stamford on Tuesday, Dec. 3, along with youth from Cross Plains, Haskell, Hawley, Roscoe, and Stamford.

Results from the District 8 UIL Junior High Speech Contest were not available at press time, and will be reported next week.

Also competing in UIL district contest on Tuesday were several local second through fifth graders. These students remained on the Nancy Smith Elementary School campus for their writing competitions.

Other UIL academic contests for the elementary and middle school level will be hosted  by Hawley next Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Local Contestants

Competing for Albany Junior High School this week were the following:

Eighth grade - Robyn Trail, Tyler Chapman, Brayden Watson, CheyAnne Weaver, Ayana Molina, and Sidney Russell.

Seventh grade - Caroline Holson, Gabby Lopez, Ann Davis, Jake Hale, Avery Everitt, Ethan Green, Landon Balliew, Ashton Bailey, and Jace Little.

Representing NSES at the Dec. 3 contests were the following students:

Sixth grade - Ryan Turner, Cheyenne Hebel, Calhan Fairchild, Hope McBee, Avarie Myrick, Kaisley Bartee, and Brooke Green.

Fifth grade - Hattie Braly, Wesley Gleitz, and Nicholas Gjerpe.

Fourth grade - Graham Ceder, Jordan Knight, and Charli Trail.

Third grade - Abby McBee, Trevor Bellah, and Avery Gleitz.

Second grade - Lilli Ford, Amberly Hobbs, and Corrie Ceder.
