Early voting for the May 1 local election will begin next Monday, April 19 and run through Tuesday, April 27.

The hospital board has the only locally contested race in Shackelford County,

Four candidates have filed for the three available at-large seats on the Shackelford County Hospital District’s board of directors.

The ballot will list incumbents Mike Folsom, Jo Ann Estridge, and Leslie Belcher, along with challenger Mary Boland.

Directors on the hospital board serve two-year terms.

According to Regina Whitt at the EMS district office, all voting will be conducted at the EMS station located at 840 Gregg Street.

“Both early voting and voting on the regular election day, May 1, will be at the EMS station,” said Whitt. “Voters will need to present a drivers license to vote.”

Only two voting machines will be used for the election with one for early voting and one for the regular election.

The machines were tested for the upcoming election at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 8.

Election officials Dee Balliew and Ann King will run the election for all dates.
