The past two weeks have seen youth groups from First Baptist Church of Albany enjoy outdoor activities while also strengthening their relationship with Christ as they attended summer church camps.

A total of  19 preteens (fourth through sixth grades) and two adults spent July 11-15 at Camp Copass near Denton.

"Camp Copass was great,” FBC youth minister Eduardo San Lucas said. “We had two salvations, six recommitments, and five wanting to get back to Christ. It was a blessing.”

This week, FBC’s teen group took 42 youth and six adults to Mt. Lebanon at Cedar Hill.

Activities have included ziplining, swimming, ga-ga ball, and dodgeball despite the sweltering heat.

“It’s been fun,” San Lucas said. “The kids are crazy, but it’s such a blessed time.”

In addition, the group has also made time for devotionals and Bible study.

“After two nights at camp, we have had two salvations and four or five recommitments,” San Lucas said earlier this week.

Each grade among the teens has been assigned a “school color” – red for eighth grade, blue for freshmen, orange for sophomores, yellow for juniors, green for seniors, and fuschia for graduated seniors.

“We’re just trying to get these kids to Christ and enjoy our time,” San Lucas said. “Pray for us that the Lord will move in mighty ways this week.”
