Donations, volunteers needed for Baskets
By Sam Waller
The Albany Ministerial Alliance’s Christmas Basket food drive is moving forward with the food order being placed earlier this week.
“Brookshire’s has always been very gracious in helping us get food ordered in the past,” Ministerial Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins said.
The annual program strives to provide a box filled with ingredients needed for a traditional holiday meal to families in need of assistance.
The drive received 101 applicants this year with 41 in Albany, 35 in Moran and 25 through Vittles by Vehicles.
Donations can be mailed to the Ministerial Alliance at PO Box 3084, Albany TX 76430.
Wilkins said food will be delivered to recipients on Sunday, Dec. 19, or may be picked up at The Feed Store.
“We need volunteers to help deliver some of the Christmas food baskets,” Wilkins said.
To volunteer, contact Wilkins at 325-660-7443.
Wilkins said she has had no indication that any items will be difficult to acquire this year.
“Last year, we did have a problem getting the cooked turkey breasts,” she said. “We haven’t come across that yet, but we’re hoping there’s not going to be any problems. Normally, Brookshire’s has been able to get everything for us and I’m hoping that’s the case again this year.”
