Two directors were re-elected to the Albany Chamber of Commerce board at the organization’s annual membership meeting on  Friday, Feb. 11, at Ft. Griffin Gen. Mdse. Restaurant, held a week later than originally scheduled because of bad weather the previous Friday.

Officers for the upcoming year were chosen on the same day.

Ramby Anderson and Clayton Snyder were both elected to serve another three-year term, according to Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones.

Anderson will continue as Chamber president, with Lisa Barton also staying in her role as treasurer, and Jones as secretary.

The annual Chamber membership meeting is typically held on the first Friday in February with an agenda that includes reviewing the finance report and electing directors and officers.

Each year, several of the board members’ terms come up for election on a rotating basis, and directors are named at the annual membership meeting.

The nominating committee’s recommended re-election of the two existing directors, and those nominees were voted on by all of the Chamber members in attendance at the Feb. 11 meeting.

The next luncheon will be held Friday, Feb. 25 at 12:00 noon at The Beehive, then the weekly meetings will move to the Icehouse for March and April. All Chamber members are invited and encouraged to attend the luncheons.

Upcoming Events

At their meeting last week, board members selected one local individual and one business to be recognized as Albany “Stars.”

Jones said that the recipients will be revealed during the Albany Stars event set for 6:30 p.m. on Thurday, March 3 at the Aztec Theater.

“You don’t have to be a Chamber member to attend this party, but the winners have to be members,” Jones said. “And we will be set up for people to join that night so they can come to the Crawfish Boil Appreciation Party.”

Attendees at the April 7 Crawfish Boil must be Chamber members, but can purchase memberships at the game.
