TxDOT has announced that a bridge across Hwy.  576 between Moran and Hwy. 283 that leads to Baird will be closed and rebuilt starting later this year.

“The letter from TxDOT says that they will let the bids for the Deep Creek bridge in September 2023, and it will take about a year to construct,” said Pct. 3 commissioner Lanham Martin during Monday’s meeting of county officials.

He added that the bridge replacement is needed, but would prove to be an inconvenience for quite a few county residents.

Other than a motion approving the installation of a private gas line in precinct one, there were only discussion items during the hour long session.

County judge John Viertel reported that there have been several false alarms recently due to a faulty fire alarm on the third floor, and a crew was  in the process of repairing or replacing it.
