While numbers were down somewhat this summer due to conflicts, spirits were high as the second and final week of Resource Care’s Day Camp wraps up.

The camp was divided between the week of July 10 and July 24 this year, with the final day set for tomorrow, Friday, July 28.

“Everything has gone great this year,” said Ragan Riley with Resource Care. “We averaged about 80 during the first week of camp, and numbers were a little lower this week.”

Riley thanked the Albany Church of Christ for hosting the campers during a one-day Vacation Bible School on Monday, Aug. 24.

“The Church of Christ really stepped up to do VBS for the kids,” she said. “It was short notice, and we really appreciate what they did.”

Donations are still being accepted to help cover the cost of the camp. Donations can be sent to ResourceCare, P.O. Box 2435, Albany, TX 76430 and should be specified for Day Camp.

A total of 40 high school staffers signed up to work the events, along with about a dozen junior high volunteers.
