ResourceCare’s 23rd year of Summer Day Camp is scheduled to begin next Monday, July 12.

“Everything is set to go,” said one of the directors, Mindy Ary. “We are excited that it is finally time and can’t wait to have fun with all the kids.”

Limited Funding

Although camp begins Monday, donations and sponsors will still be needed.

“We received several donations at the end of last week,” Ary said, “and we are very grateful to all the individuals and businesses that have donated to this cause.”

ResourceCare will continue seeking out sponsorships even after camp gets underway, according to Ary, because expenses are not yet covered.

“We will take donations of spray-on sunscreen and bottled water throughout the month,” she said. “And any monetary donations are still needed and greatly appreciated.”

Extensive Preparations

Many employees have been working non-stop to get prepared for the upcoming month.

“It has been fun but challenging to get everything in place,” said Ary. “There are so many people and so much that goes into making this a success each year.”

Camper Information

Day Camp is free to all registered children from three years of age and potty trained to sixth grade.

The camp will service 155 students with 40 high school workers and 22 junior high volunteers.

Campers will participate in various activities throughout each day, including swimming, trips to local businesses, arts and crafts, Vacation Bible School, and much more.

All camp participants should be brought to the Youth Center each morning at 8:30 a.m., with 8:45 a.m. listed as the absolute latest drop-off time.

A breakfast snack will be served each morning, followed by a full lunch and an afternoon snack.

“Please note that the breakfast snack is not a full breakfast,” Ary said. “It will be something small like a granola bar or a bowl of cereal.”

Ary also reminded parents that no outside food or drinks will be permitted.

Pickup for campers who are three years old to kindergarten age is 2:30 p.m. at the Youth Center. Those in grades 1-6 should be picked up at 2:45 p.m. at the city park pavilion.

“The staff is in place, our student orientation is complete, and we are ready to roll on Monday,”said Ary.

Monetary or other donations can be mailed to ResourceCare, Attn: Day Camp, PO Box 2435, Albany TX 76430.
