COVID numbers continue to drop
By Melinda L. Lucas
Numbers are continuing to fall in both how many COVID tests are administered locally and how many are coming back positive, according to a report distributed earlier this week by Shackelford County judge Robert Skelton.
“The Shackelford County Health Clinic (SCHC), the Shackelford County EMS, and Resource Care all combined have reported only three positive COVID-19 test results during the previous 14 days,” said Skelton, who added that as of Tuesday, there were only 17 people in a 22-county area who were hospitalized with the coronavirus.
Both local clinics still have doses of the Moderna vaccine and are scheduling appointments. SCHC is already making vaccines available to everyone 18 and above, and Resource Care will lower its age limit to 18+ beginning on Monday, March 29, following state recommendations.
With parental permission, 16 and 17 years olds can get the Pfizer vaccine, but not Moderna, which is limited to patients 18 and over.
To schedule appointments for a vaccine, call ResourceCare at 325-762-2447 and SCHC at 325-762-3661.
