County seeking bids for services

Shackelford County elected officials met Friday morning, Sept. 29 for a special session with one goal in mind – to open and award bids for three different services in time for a Oct. 1 start date and new fiscal year.

However, they ended up adjourning with no action taken just a little while later, because the single electronic bid to supply bulk fuel was corrupted and couldn’t be opened.

No bids were received for mowing of the Courthouse Square and mowing of two rural county cemeteries.

The commissioners are republishing the notices asking for sealed bids this week and next. After the required two-week publication period, bids must be submitted by Oct. 20, and they will be reviewed at the regular Oct. 23 commissioners meeting.

Elected officials hope to award bids at that time for all three services for a 12-month period through Sept. 30, 2024.

The full text for the three bids, which must be sealed, appears on page 4B.

The only other items on the Sept. 29 agenda were routine.
