County exhibitors place at Austin stock show

Shackelford County youth were among the exhibitors from across the state of Texas showing barrows and goats at the junior livestock show in Austin recently.

Rodeo Austin is the eighth largest junior livestock show in North America with more than 8,000 entries.

Market goats were judged on Tuesday, March 19, while market barrows were exhibited last Saturday and Sunday. 

Steers are scheduled to be shown on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, followed by heifers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Placings for goats and pigs at the Austin Livestock Show are as follows:

Colter Edgar won fifth place with his Dark Cross barrow.

Carli Edgar took sixth in Dark OPB barrows.

Madison Wilkins was seventh in her class of Yorkshire barrows.

Ryleigh Waters placed ninth with a Dark Cross barrow.

Brayden Sullivan showed a market goat to ninth place.

Paisley Clark’s market goat was 12th. 

Other local participants at Rodeo Austin last week were Hannah Snyder, Cutter Edgar, Isela Flores, and Tristan Edgar.
