Albany city council members will conduct a budget hearing at 7:00 p.m. next Monday, March 9, preceding their regular monthly meeting at Albany City Hall.

The balanced budget of $2,936,850 was proposed at the Feb. 10 session and is expected to be in place before the city’s fiscal year begins on April 1, 2020.

Budget Proposal

The $2.94 million proposed figure is considerably less than last year’s $3.29 million budget, primarily because of the $300,000 pilots’ lounge that is currently being constructed at the municipal airport.

City manager Billy Holson explained that although the lounge is being built with grants and private donations, it still had to be shown in the 2019-2020 budget.

The public can comment on the budget during the hearing prior to the council vote.
