Summer conditioning programs for both boys and girls entering grades 7-12 in the fall got underway on Monday at the high school campus.

Schools are allowed to offer conditioning, strength, and agility training during the summer to help students planning to participate in sports during the school year. Sport-specific training is allowed on a limited basis, which is planned for the girls on June 18, 24, and July 24 for volleyball only from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. There will also be “open gym” time for volleyball on the two remaining Mondays in June and July 25 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Prospective female athletes who want to get in shape or stay in shape for any sports program will be able to participate in workouts starting at 8:00 a.m. in the high school weight room, while the boys will work out in the Green Room at 7:00 a.m.

The girls will meet Monday through Thursday through the month of June and again on July 25-26.

The boys, on the other hand, will work Monday through Thursday at 7:00 a.m. for six consecutive weeks, ending on July 18.

The program is open to any student who will be entering grades 7-12 in the fall.

Local coaches stressed that the conditioning program is for all athletes regardless of the sport they plan to participate in.

Students will also be able to use the school’s weight room during the rest of the summer. The facility will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
