The Chamber of Commerce promoted community-wide clean-up day has been scheduled for Saturday, June 15.

The community-wide clean-up day is a time for all citizens of the community to come out and help make the town of Albany look pristine. All are encouraged to volunteer their time and energy to clean up the town.

“Volunteers can meet at the Depot at 8:00 a.m.,” said Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones.

Those who volunteer may bring personal equipment or supplies, including lawn mowers, chain saws, and weed eaters.

“Bring along anything you have that you think may be of use,” said Jones.

The Chamber has organized many projects during the cleanup day throughout the years, such as the first step in preparing a domino room for seniors in the community, cleaning up roads, and removing garbage and debris from walking paths.

“Our goal this year will be to clean up the Fandangle routes,” Jones said. “We are going to try to get those ready for when the Fandangle season begins.”

The day is largely dependent on volunteers.

“We hope that everyone in the community will come volunteer and help out,” said Jones. “We really want to make our town look nice and clean. We want Albany to look great for the upcoming summer season, since we attract many visitors.”

Those who have needs that can be met by volunteers are encouraged to call the Chamber at 762-2525.
