Community VBS set July 31-Aug. 2

It’s almost time for Albany Community Vacation Bible School.
The event, sponsored by the Albany Ministerial Alliance, is for children age 4 through those who have completed sixth grade and scheduled for Sunday-Wednesday, July 30-Aug.. 2. Preschoolers must be 4 years old by Aug. 1.
The theme of this year’s Community VBS is “Twists and Turns,” with children learning about the life of Peter and how he followed Jesus despite the twists and turns of life. The theme verse and prayer is Psalm 25:4 – “Make your ways known to me, teach me your paths.”
In addition, each night will be a color night, organizer Betsy Spraberry said. Colors for each night will be red for Sunday, yellow for Monday, blue for Tuesday, and green for Wednesday.
“Kids are welcome to represent that color if they want to, but it’s not mandatory,” Spraberry said.
Community VBS will be split into three age groups, each of which will follow a separate “track.”
Ages 4 and 5 will meet 5:45-7:30 p.m. at The Feed Store.
Children who have completed Kindergarten through fifth grade will meet 5:30-8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Parents are asked to drop children off in back.
Children who have completed sixth grade will meet at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist’s Fellowship Hall and assist with the younger groups, then have their own Bible study.
“At FBC, we’ll be dropping off kids and doing registration at the back, which is the daycare dropoff,” Spraberry said.
Pick up for the older groups will be on the First Street side of the church toward Morehart Mortuary, she said.
Wednesday, Aug. 2 will be Family Night. Following a closing program at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist sanctuary, attendees are invited to Webb Park for a concert, scavenger hunt, cake, and hot dogs. Spraberry advises bringing lawn chairs.
Spraberry said preregistration for the event will continue through this week. Preregistration may be done by scanning a QR code included on promotional posters.
