Community invited to Kiwanis fajita lunch

The 13th annual Albany Kiwanis Charity/John Rose and Jim Law Memorial Golf Tournament and Fajita Fiesta will take place this Friday, Oct. 2.
Money raised from participants and sponsors will help fund the Albany K Charity Scholarship Fund.
“The sponsors have been great this year,” said Kiwanis Club member Ken Lawrence.
Lawrence explained that the funds raised at the golf tournament not only help fund the scholarships but help provide funds for other Kiwanis Club community outreach programs.
“The golf tournament and fajita lunch is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Kiwanis Club,” Lawrence said.
Fajita Meal
The fajita lunch starts at 11:00 a.m., and tickets are $15 for those not entered in the tournament or listed as sponsors.
Lawrence said the luncheon is open to the entire community.
Members of the Albany Chamber of Commerce will hold their weekly Friday lunch gathering at the fajita fundraiser in order to help support the Kiwanis scholarship drive, and they encourage others to join.
Golf Scramble
The golf tournament will take place on Friday afternoon with a shotgun start of 12:30 p.m.
Mulligans are available for purchase at $10 each.
Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive on hole nine, closest to the line on hole four, closest to the hole on five, six, and eight, closest to the markers on holes number one, two, three and seven, and top scoring teams.
Sponsorships for the event are still available at several levels and vary from hole sponsors at $175 each up to the platinum sponsor level at $1,000. However, sponsorships accepted at this point will not be acknowledged on the advertising.
Registrations for the golf tournament will be accepted through today, Thursday, Oct. 1, as long as there are spots available.
