Community cleanup set Saturday

The Albany Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual community-wide clean-up day on Saturday, June 12.

All area citizens are encouraged to come out and help work on projects aimed at beautifying the town of Albany, and the annual clean-up day is a good way for many people to get volunteer hours.

“All volunteers can meet at the Depot at 8:00 a.m.,” said Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones.

In the past, many projects have been completed on this specific day including removing debris from walking paths, cleaning up roads, and working on other tasks to make the town of Albany more appealing.

“We will concentrate around downtown and towards the Fandangle grounds,” said Jones. “We want everything to look nice when the show kicks off.”

A roll-off and a tire disposal truck will be available for use on clean-up day, and residents are reminded that once the tire truck is full, tires may not be left outside of the truck.

The day is largely dependent on volunteers, and they are encouraged to bring any equipment or supplies they have to assist in the sprucing up of the city.

“In return for their hard work, volunteers will be treated to a hamburger dinner,” said Jones. “First National Bank is sponsoring the meal for everyone who shows up and works.”

Citizens who live along the path to the Fandangle and need assistance cleaning up their property should contact the Chamber office at 325-762-2525 to request help.
