Any new applications for the commodity food program need to be turned in by Monday, Oct. 21 in order to be eligible to receive the special Thanksgiving bag along with November commodities on Nov. 1 in Albany or Nov. 5 for Moran residents.

“Everyone should make sure their applications are up to date, because the Thanksgiving bags are coming up soon,” said justice of the peace James Breeden. “Regular recipients who are already receiving commodities must have picked up their October bags in order to be given a special holiday bag next month. Because we have to order the items special, we need to have an accurate count.”

JP chief clerk Melissa Hobbs emphasized that those who are just now applying for commodities must turn in applications by next Monday, Oct. 21 in order to get a Thanksgiving bag.

“We have to order those items next week,” she said. “Applications turned in after that will still be able to get the November commodities, if they are eligible, but not the additional Thanksgiving bag.”

The commodity food program is federally funded. Applications are available at the JP office.
