Shackelford County commissioners took care of several agenda items before continuing to work on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year at a special session on Monday afternoon, Aug. 17.

Lease agreements for motor graders for both Pct. 2 and Pct. 4 were approved.

Pct. 2 commissioner Ace Reames reported that he had traveled to Oklahoma City to look at a 2019 Caterpillar motor grader, while Cody Jordan of Pct. 4 found a John Deere at Yellowhouse in Abilene.

Pct. 3 commissioner Lanham Martin said that the lease agreement on his John Deere motor grader is coming up on Aug. 22, but he is tentatively planning to let it expire and take the $150,000 guaranteed buy-back amount.

He is waiting for bids from both John Deere and Caterpillar before deciding on a course of action.

In other action, an application to install a private water line on CR 104 in Pct. 1 was okayed, and Jennie Bailey was approved as an election judge for Pct. 4.
