Closet Angels shoppers still limited

Shackelford County residents have the opportunity to back-to-school shop at Closet Angels, but there will be no “Back to School Bash” this year.

Closet Angels coordinator Lori Reames explained that the organization doesnot want to encourage a large gathering while there are still active cases of COVID-19.

Shopping is first come first serve with a limit of 10 shoppers at a time, and a 30-minute time limit if there is a line.

Reames said shoppers are asked to enter through the front door and sign in.

“In order to monitor the number of shoppers inside, we will keep the door locked and will open the door to let shoppers enter when numbers allow,” Reames said. “Masks are not required at this time to enter the store.”

To lessen chances of exposure, only Shackelford County residents are allowed to shop, and they need to be prepared to show identification.

“We are asking for an ID in case workers are not acquainted with a person, but shoppers can always drive around back and ask for me,” Reames said.

Shopping restricted to just Shackelford County means an oversupply in donations.

“We get in more than we can give away right now,” Reames added.

She said there is a separate rack for teens around the back of the store, and the sea containers are open if shoppers can stand the heat.

What does not sell at Closet Angels is donated to the Salvation Army, Medina Children’s Home, and the Children’s Chest in Breckenridge.

Closet Angels hours are Monday through Friday 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on second Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Shoppers and residents are encouraged to “Like” the Closet Angels Facebook page to view current information and specific needs.
