Due to several conflicts, Closet Angels’ “Back to School Bash” has been moved up more than a week to Thursday, Aug. 1. It was originally scheduled on Aug. 10.

According to Closet Angels director Lori Reames, there will be “food, prizes, and fun along with an opportunity to shop for great school clothing” from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. that evening.

First Financial Bank will provide hot dogs and water.

All those who visit can sign up for drawings, which will include a $100 cash prize for one family and one student attending Albany or Moran schools, several more $50 cash prizes, and gift cards from local businesses.

“The purpose of this event is to help out local families before tax-free weekend and also to draw in more local shoppers who want to save money on basic needs for school,” said Reames. “We have been collecting good athletic shoes and name brand clothing, and we hope to have plenty of new socks, undergarments, and toiletries available.”

She encouraged everyone who may have good back to school donations to place them inside the big blue bin behind Closet Angels as soon as possible so they can be processed before Aug. 1.

The local facility is open every Monday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. and on second Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

As a reminder, all donations left at Closet Angels belong to the ministry, and should never be taken even if left outside of the bin. Security cameras are being used and will be made available to law enforcement if necessary.

Closet Angels is located at 132 S. Jacobs Street, across from Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.
