Classes to break for Christmas this Friday

Students at the Albany Independent School District inched closer to their Christmas break with early dismissals at 12:30 p.m. beginning yesterday and continuing today, Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18.

Students will be off for the Christmas break from Monday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 4, which is a holiday for students and a staff development day for teachers. 

Both students and staff will return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 5 with classes at AISD resuming at the usual times.

Students at the secondary level are in the middle of their first semester final exams. 

Semester finals at the secondary campus are set for 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 17; and at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 18. 

Exams for periods four, five, and six are scheduled for today, Dec. 17. 

Finals for periods seven and eight, as well as any needed make-up exams, will be given tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 18. 

High school students will come and go on those three days based upon their exam schedules.

Junior high students will stay until the designated dismissal times on all three days.
