The Albany Chamber of Commerce annual garage sale will take place on the third Saturday in September this year, rather than the usual second Saturday of the month because of the way the dates fall.

Chamber directors decided that since Sept. 1 is on a Saturday, the second Saturday would be too early in the month.

“The Chamber office will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 15,” said office manager Mary Beth Jones. “Maps (of the garage sale locations) will be prepared on Friday and can be picked up at the Chamber office starting at 7:00 a.m. I will also post the map on our Facebook page early Saturday morning.”

The signup fee to register a garage sale, be included on the map, and issued a sign number is $25. Jones will be accepting signups from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m on Tuesday to Thursday, Sept. 11 through Sept. 13.

“Ten dollars of the signup fee will be returned upon request, when returning the sign,” said Jones. “Or the money can be donated to the Chamber.”

Signs should be returned Tuesday, Sept. 18 or Wednesday, Sept. 19 during regular hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In addition to coordinating the city-wide garage sale, the Chamber will also be actively participating this year, said Jones.

“The Chamber will be having its own garage sale at the Depot,” she said. “If anyone has items they wish to donate to our sale, please bring them by Sept. 11-14. If people have some things they do not need, but do not want to go to the trouble of having a sale of their own, we will gladly sell them and use the proceeds to help the businesses of Albany.”

The Chamber garage sale will end at 2:00 p.m., but the other garage sales may close at different times, Jones added.
