City water rate increase approved

Albany city council members voted to raise water rates by $1 per thousand gallons starting with the April 2024 billing during a Jan. 8 session.

City manager Billy Holson said that the increase wouldbringinanadditional $171,000 to help fund capital improvements such as streetrepair,butwouldonly raisetheminimumamount from $57.77 to $59.57.
