The annual Splash Day at the Albany city pool is scheduled for Thursday, June 1.

The facility will be open free of charge to the general public from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. to start the beginning of the summer.

Meg Walser is managing the pool this year. She and city workers have already put in quite a few hours getting the facility ready for the opening, cleaning not only the pool but the concession area and restrooms.

After online training is complete, about 20 lifeguards will train in person this weekend and be ready to start work next week, according to Kenisha Lucas at City Hall. The lifeguards are being asked to attend the next city council meeting on June 12.

Regular Fees

Daily entrance fees to the pool during normal hours will be $2.50 per person.

Local residents may purchase pool passes at the swimming pool. A summer pool pass is $100 for an individual and $200 for a family pass for all family members living in the same household.

Individual and family passes do not cover admission to family swim time on Tuesday evenings or during private rental times.

Regular Pool Hours

Tuesday through Saturday, the pool will be open 12:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday hours will be 2:00-5:00 p.m., and the pool will be closed on Sundays.

There will be a family swim time on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a special rate of $1 per person. Children must be accompanied by a parent during the time block designated for families.

Pool Rentals

The pool will be available for after-hour rentals for $200 per two-hour time block, which includes lifeguards, but rentals are not available on Mondays when the pool is closed or Tuesdays because of the family swim time.

There are only a few rental time slots still available, Lucas said.

To book a time slot, contact City Hall at 325-762-3133. Pool rental fees must be paid in full at the time the pool is reserved.
