Churches get fall programs started

With the start of the school year, Albany churches and organizations have already begun youth and children’s services for students, with more activities scheduled to begin in the next few weeks.

Feed Store

Tuesday lunches for juniors and seniors will begin again on Aug. 23 at the Feed Store.

Starting after the first home football game on Aug. 26 are the traditional after-game fellowships.

Fifth quarter begins after the end of home football games and ends at 11:00 p.m.

Friendship Baptist

Friendship Baptist Church is having a back-to-school event on Wednesday, Aug. 31 beginning at 5:30 p.m. for elementary students and 6:00 p.m. for junior and high school students.

Water slides, hot dogs, and ice cream will be available for students to celebrate the return of youth programs for the year.

A week after the event, Wednesday youth nights will begin at normal times.

Children aged four years old through sixth graders will have youth from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and seventh through 12th graders will have Bible study from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

MMPC

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church will begin its Mothers Day Out ministry for pre-schoolers on Sept. 9 and run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays each week.

Junior and high school students began Wednesday study groups at MMPC on Aug. 17.

The study groups meet at 5:15 p.m.

Church of Christ

The Church of Christ held a back to school event on Aug. 3 for members and others in the community.

Wednesday night classes will continue this year with children aged up to sixth grade meeting from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.

The Youth in Action kids, junior high and high school, will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

First Baptist

First Baptist held a pool party on Aug. 7 for everyone to welcome the new school year, with several baptisms conducted at the city pool.

Youth nights are continuing every Wednesday with junior high students meeting from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. and high school students from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.

Jesus and Me (JAM) began sessions for elementary students will begin Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Students at JAM are provided a meal at 5:45, with programs beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Parents can pick up children at 7:15 p.m.
