Christmas events set by churches

Albany churches are will conduct special services in addition to holding more social activities as part of their Christmas celebrations in the coming week.
Friendship Baptist
Friendship Baptist Church will hold candlelight services at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, Dec. 19.
Pastor Paul Johnston said Sunday School classes will not be held this week.
Trinity Lutheran
Trinity Lutheran Church will have a Christmas Eve Children’s service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24.
A Christmas Day worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m.
First Baptist
First Baptist Church will host a family hayride on Sunday, Dec. 19.
The evening gets started at 5:30 p.m. with the assembly of gift baskets for shut-ins. In addition to partaking in a light sandwich supper, church members may submit a dozen cookies for a contest. Judging will be held in two categories – best decorated and best tasting, with separate divisions for children and adults.
The hayride will include caroling and delivery of the gift baskets. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The group will return to FBC at 6:45 p.m. for s’mores and hot chocolate around the fire pits. A Christmas devotional will be held under the stars, and cookie contest winners will be announced.
First Christian
The annual Sunday School Christmas party at First Christian Church is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday.
Pastor Brad McBee said First Christian will hold a special Christmas Eve service this year with a Texas Country Christmas. Randall Palmore and John Caldwell will provide music, and Sam Davis will read a Cowboy Christmas poem.
A candlelight communion will be part of the service.
MMPC
Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church will host a candlelight service at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 24.
The church’s 13th annual Christmas Day Feast is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 25 at the Fellowship Hall.
The event is open to everyone at no charge.
Meals are available for dine-in or pickup. There will be limited delivery to shut-ins and those unable to come to the church.
