Christmas break starts Friday

Students at the Albany Independent School District will be released for the day at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, and will break for the Christmas holidays at noon this Friday, Dec. 20.

The district will be closed for the winter break from Monday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 3.

A staff development day is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 6, and classes will resume at the normal times on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Semester finals are continuing through this Friday at the secondary campus.

High school students must sign in at the school office by 9:00 each day if they are exempt from class. Those taking tests are free to come and go according to their exam schedule.  

Junior high students are not exempt from school and will remain on campus until the dismissal time each day.

Exams planned for this Thursday are the fourth period final at 8:00 a.m., fifth period final at 9:25 a.m., and sixth period final at 11:10 p.m. 

Students will be released for the day at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.

End of semester exams for periods seven and eight are scheduled on Friday at 8:00 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. respectively.

The secondary campus will release for the holidays at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, with the staff allowed to leave as soon as grades are finalized.

Elementary students will be released for the day at 12:30 p.m. this Thursday.

On Friday, Dec. 20, parents are invited to join the students at 9:00 a.m. in the school cafeteria for the annual Christmas sing-along.

An early release lunch schedule will be followed on Friday, Dec. 20 before students are released for Christmas vacation at 12:00 noon. 

Classes will resume for the spring semester at the normal time on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
