Christmas break to start Dec. 21

Albany Independent School District will break for the Christmas holidays at noon next Friday, Dec. 21, and early releases on both Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 19 and 20 should help everyone survive the five-day-long week and make it to the anticipated vacation.

Next week, holiday celebrations are planned at the elementary school while end of semester tests will be given at the secondary campus.

“Semester exams are currently scheduled for Dec. 19, 20, and 21,” said AJSH principal Edward Morales. “High school students will be allowed to eat in the gym foyer during finals.”

Students will be off for the Christmas break from Monday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Jan. 7. 

Wednesday - Thursday

Semester finals are set for 8:40 a.m., 10:10 a.m., and 12:10 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Exams for periods one, two, and three take place on Wednesday, Dec. 19, and tests covering periods four, five, and six are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 20. 

Students will be released at 1:30 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 19 and 20.

Friday

High school students will take tests over material covered in class periods seven and eight on Friday, Dec. 21, and be released at 12:05 p.m.

Lunches will be served according to an early release lunch schedule, and all classes at NSES will release for the Christmas vacation at 12:00 noon on Friday, Dec. 21.

Earlier in the day, the fifth and sixth grade bands intend to play some Christmas songs at the annual elementary school Sing-a-long held at NSES.

The Christmas Sing-a-long at NSES is scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 in the school cafeteria, and parents are welcome to attend the event.

The teaching staff will return for a staff development day on Monday, Jan. 7, while students will return from the holiday break and classes will resume at the normal scheduled time on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
